Nichols Chapel Devotion #2 – May 21, 2020

Mark 9:41 – For truly I tell you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you bear the name of Christ will by no means lose their reward.

Jesus our rewarding friend,

You knew need.

You knew thirst and hunger.

And so do we.

We praise and honor

the surprising providers

of comfort and care.

We praise and honor them.

May their work increase.

We praise and honor them

because without them

we thirst.

Amen. *

Who are the surprising providers you would like to thank during the pandemic?  A family member?  A neighbor?  Someone you never would have guessed?  We have a Laotian neighbor who brings us egg rolls every holiday.  The first time was a surprise!  Can you recall surprises you received as a child? When have you surprised someone with comfort and care?  Help us Lord to offer comfort and care and to give thanks when we are the recipients.  If we are unable to offer comfort and care, may we support those who can and give thanks for quenching thirst.
