A Screening and Discussion of the Film 1946 

Join us on Sunday, July 28 as we join affirming congregations in the Des Moines metro for a special showing of and conversation about the film 1946 which chronicles how the word “homosexual” got added to the Bible in that year.     Varsity Cinema, the Affirming Congregations of Greater Des Moines, the Interfaith Alliance of Iowa, and Capital City Pride bring you this documentary that reveals how the first use of the word homosexual in the Bible in 1946 was the “mistranslation that shifted a culture.” Join us to learn how this error occurred and how it spread. Then, stick around for a 30-minute panel discussion with local religious leaders who are actively working to build acceptance of LGBTQ+ people with a message of full welcome and inclusion.
