Our Site Analysis & Next Steps
Including a Congregational Lunch Meeting on Sunday, September 14
As most of you know, we’ve spent a lot of time this year working through a Site Analysis process with our consultant, BBS Architects | Engineers. Many of you have participated in information sessions we’ve offered over the past year, and a series of Conversation Circles and a Leaders’ Summit in February. Over the past few months, our leaders have been weighing next steps and preparing to share with our congregation about what has emerged, and what’s coming next.
So, NOW IS THE TIME. With our church community back together, after summer break and travels, it’s time to gather to move this process forward. YOU ARE INVITED to join in a Congregational Lunch Meeting on Sunday, September 14 where our leaders—along with representatives of BBS—will share the long-anticipated report that includes specific proposals for next steps relating to our buildings and properties, and how we developed them. You’ll learn our next steps to get from here to actual decisions.
Here are the details on the Congregational Lunch Meeting:
Sunday, September 14—11:15am-1:00 pm in Wesley Hall
Boxed lunches will be served, and we can adjust for food allergies or special needs.
Child care is available for kids 6 and under starting at 11:30 (after the lunch).
Please send your RSVP at this link so we can plan all this for you!
CAN’T MAKE IT ON SEPTEMBER 14? Or want more conversation on these proposals?
We’ll hold two additional info sessions with the same presentation (though without our friends from BBS), and all are welcome, whether or not you’ve joined in on the 14th:
- Wednesday, September 17 in the Norman Room, 6:15-7:15 pm (child care available with Wednesday evening programming)
- Sunday, September 21
- Presentation during Forum class, 9:00-9:45am in the Norman Room
- Feedback session after worship in Wesley Hall, 11:30-12:30 pm (child care available for children under 6).
We’ll also have a printed copy of our presentation slides to share with those who cannot attend at the scheduled times, or who were present but want to review this information at their leisure. If you have questions, concerns, or input about what you’ve learned, our leaders will be glad to hear from you at times other than our scheduled sessions. Especially consider contacting Jane Jacobson, our Lay Leader, or one or more of the members of our Site Analysis Oversight Team:
Max Morris, Church Council Chair
Lee Schott, Lead Pastor
Jeff Elver, Finance Chair
Ann Sandine, Council Member
David Orth
Chris Strawhacker
We will be gathering feedback and making any needed adjustments to plans and/or timelines depending on what we hear from YOU. If it seems helpful to schedule additional feedback / listening sessions, we will share those plans in the coming weeks. Our proposed actions will require approval by a church conference—possibly as early as October—with all Collegiate UMC & Wesley Foundation members having a vote, so we want you to be prepared and ready when we get to that stage.
As always, please be praying for our leaders and for our church as we approach these sessions, these decisions, and our ongoing life together as we take actions that will support God’s long, continuing work through Collegiate/Wesley.
