VBS 2026 Recap

What a joyful and meaningful week we shared at VBS! Over four incredible days, more than 40 children and 25 dedicated volunteers came together to explore our theme, What Every Living Thing Needs.

This year, we spent time wondering about the simple yet essential things that allow all living things to flourish: air, water, shelter, food, and community. Each day invited us to look more closely at the world around us and recognize that every creature—humans, animals, and plants alike—is connected and dependent on the gifts of God’s creation. We explored how the air we breathe, the water that sustains us, the homes that protect us, the food that nourishes us, and the communities that support us are all sacred gifts that we are called to celebrate, share, and protect.

Through music, games, science experiments, art, and plenty of laughter, our children asked big questions, made new discoveries, and experienced what it means to be part of a caring community. We created colorful spray tie-dyed VBS t-shirts, collected items to stock our Little Free Food Pantry, and celebrated all we learned during our closing program where the children shared their songs with family and friends.

Each evening, children, volunteers, and families gathered around the table to share a meal together, another beautiful reminder of the importance of community and belonging. We are especially grateful to the many groups who provided meals throughout the week and extend a special thank you to Jo Banwart for coordinating all of the dinners and ensuring everyone was well fed and cared for.

The heart of VBS has always been the community we create together, and this year was no exception. It was a joy to watch children of all ages build friendships, volunteers share their gifts, and our church come together to create a space where every child was welcomed, celebrated, and loved.

A heartfelt thank you to our 25 volunteers, everyone who donated supplies and pantry items, the groups who provided meals, and all who prayed for and supported this ministry. VBS was a beautiful reminder that the church is at its best when we learn together, care for one another, and recognize that every living thing needs connection, compassion, and a place to belong.

Thank you for helping make VBS 2026 such a special week. We are already looking forward to what God has in store for us next summer!
