In conversation with a long-time friend, I was sharing about the work I get to do as a campus minister, here at Collegiate / Wesley. I shared about a new student who I connected with while at coffee a couple of weeks ago. This student is just now exploring her faith and here I was buying her a cup of coffee and asking about her classes and wellbeing! It’s an easy entry point!
After 30 minutes, I promised to buy this student a bible that would make sense when she read it. It would have a timeline, key people, places and verses, footnotes to explain customs and the culture. The bible would also have profiles of key people and ways to apply the scripture to today’s life. Not all bibles are created equally.
My long-time friend said she was inspired to dust off her bible and start reading it again! Happy to help find a reading plan that keeps you engaged! I look forward to checking in on this new student and my friend to see how the scriptures are making a difference in their lives!
Let me know if you need help finding the right bible or plan to engage with the scriptures! Baby steps! My friend reminded me of the phrase … the only way to climb a mountain is one step at a time and the only way to read your bible is one story at a time. I’m around if you want to talk about the next step for you!
Blessings on your journey,
Pastor Jena
