Endowment Grants – 2026 Funds Approved
Grant applications were reviewed at the Endowment Board’s April meeting. The Board
had $91,938 available for grant support this year. The C/W Endowment Fund Bylaws
specify that grants may be awarded for the benefit, welfare, and betterment of the
property and programs of C/W.  Grants may include support for capital expenditures,
new or existing programs/ministries, and missions.

Grants projects supported this year include $2,000 each for both Clothing That Works
and the Little Food Pantry, both of which were sponsored by the Sending to Serve
Cluster. The Board approved $8,000 for the Iowa Migrant Movement Justice, Story
County Expansion Project, for legal clinics for immigrants and refugees, which was
sponsored by the Helping our Neighbors as well as the Sending to Serve Clusters. All
three of these organizations were supported last year as well.

There were several new projects supported this year. The first was $16,500 that was
granted to the Wesley Board to purchase new furniture for the Student Lounge. The
final three grants were requested by the Board of Trustees for capital expenditure. Last
year’s eastern window replacement will require $5,000 to repair the plaster around
those new windows. The Trustees were also granted $8,000 to add four video screens
to Wesley Hall for the showing of slides and other video productions, as well as
updating the audio in the hall.

Finally, the Endowment Board granted the remaining
$50,438 toward the eventual replacement of the sanctuary’s air handler unit. The
present unit is thirty years old and is showing signs of wearing out. The replacement
unit would be a heat pump. There is a twenty-week lead time on this item and it is
intended to be installed in the spring of 2027.
