June 9: Stonewall Uprising

The Stonewall riots, as they came to be known, marked a major turning point in the modern gay civil rights movement in the United States and around the world.

 

June 16: The Celluloid Closet

Narrated by Lily Tomlin, this exuberant, eye-opening movie serves up a dazzling hundred-year history of gay men and women on the silver screen.

 

June 23: Boy Erased

When a college student comes out to his religious parents, they enroll him in a conversion therapy program to change his sexuality.

 

June 30: Limited Partnership 

The love story between Filipino-American Richard Adams and Australian Tony Sullivan, who, in 1975, became one of the first same-sex couples legally married in the United States.

 

July 7: Daddy and Papa 

A film exploring the legal, social, and political challenges faced by four same-sex couples and their children.

 

July 14: The Times of Harvey Milk

A documentary of the successful life, career and assassination of the first openly gay elected official.

 

July 21: We Were Here 

The San Francisco arrival of what was then called the “Gay Plague” in the early 1980s. This film explores the profound personal, community, & political issues raised by the AIDS epidemic.

 

July 28: The Believers

A documentary following the Transcendence Gospel Choir, the world’s first transgender gospel choir, founded in 2001 in San Francisco.
