At Collegiate/Wesley, we believe faith isn’t about having all the answers — it’s about asking our questions and walking the journey together.
Rooted in Methodist tradition and planted right next to campus, we’ve invested decades creating spaces where people can grow in faith, find belonging, and live out love in real ways.
We celebrate diversity, we practice dialogue, and we’re committed to learning, serving, and growing side by side.
More than 25 years ago, CW adopted this statement that has come to characterize our understanding of what it means to be an inclusive church:
Our inclusive community welcomes and affirms all persons without regard to gender, ethnic background, sexual orientation, national origin, age, physical or mental ability, marital status, economic condition or anything else which threatens to divide God’s family. In our quest to follow the example of Christ, we will employ no circles of exclusion and we commit ourselves to loving acts of invitation, hospitality, and reconciliation, providing ministry to, for, and with all persons without exception.
We were way ahead of our time and our denomination in claiming this kind of community. Our clarity at that time has shaped our identity and our ministry ever since.
Collegiate/Wesley was founded in 1916 after an ISU student who had grown up Methodist told his dad, “We need a church closer to campus.” From that start we have grown and stretched across decades–and were highlighted in a 1950 profile in The Christian Century, among twelve “Great Churches of America.”
