Christmas Eve

Come celebrate the season with Collegiate Wesley!

Christmas Eve Services

Christmas Eve marks the end of the Advent season as we move from patient waiting to fullness of joy. Throughout this season, we have waited symbolically with all those in the Biblical story who waited for the first coming of Christ and we have learned the lessons God had for us there. We know that we are still waiting—with alert anticipation—for the second coming of our Lord in glory sometime in the future. And we watch for the “third coming” of Christ in the here and now—in the midst of our longings, our questions, and all that is still not yet right in our world. Like Mary, we are alert to the signs that it is time for new life to finally make it’s way into the world. The situation might be imperfect…we might not feel quite ready…there might be danger all around…but when Jesus decides to come, it is the fullness of time.

  • 5 p.m. Interactive All Ages An interactive service that will be a time where all can participate in the story of Jesus’ birth. We’ll sing some favorite carols, hear the amazing story, and close in candlelight.
  • 7 p.m. Traditional Service A blended-style Christmas service with a variety of carols that will close with traditional candle lighting.
  • 11 p.m. Lessons & Carols
This traditional Christmas Eve service will include reading of scripture to re-mind us of the great story and favorite carols for us to lift our voices together. This service will end in traditional candlelight.

Advent Special Offering

This year Sending to Serve is presenting a shared Advent Special Offering. We will be splitting the donations to two life saving organizations. The Trevor Project and the Rosedale Shelter at YSS.

The Trevor Project is the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention nonprofit organization for LGBTQ+ young people. We provide information & support to LGBTQ+ young people 24/7, all year round.

Abuse. Neglect. Chaos. Conflict. Youth in crisis can find safety, support, and services at YSS emergency shelters. Youth placed at a YSS emergency shelter frequently come from a traumatic or unstable environment. Their shelters provide youth in crisis with support, resources, and direction toward a brighter future.

You can donate online at cwames.org, through the pew envelopes starting Dec. 1st or by mailing a check to the church office.
